2024 August Kesseler, Lorcher Schlossberg 'Alte Reben' Riesling, Germany
Varieties: Riesling
Sweetness Level: Dry
The Riesling grapes come from 50-year-old vines in the prestigious single vineyard “Lorcher Schlossberg”. This extremely steep site in Lorch is composed of 100% pure slate, resulting in low yields, excellent drainage, and a naturally elegant, finely mineral Riesling style. All grapes are hand-picked and undergo a meticulous selection process. Each parcel is vinified separately to preserve its unique characteristics. Shortly before bottling, the final cuvée is composed. The 2024 vintage was fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel in our historic, double-storied cellar dating back to 1792, ensuring freshness, precision, and purity.
The 2024 Alte Reben Lorcher Schlossberg shows a pure, finely aromatic nose with delicate notes of white peach, Meyer lemon, and a hint of jasmine, supported by subtle slate minerality. On the palate, the wine is elegant, balanced, and precise, with a gentle fruit sweetness that rounds the acidity and ensures it is not overly dry. The texture is silky, the fruit expression refined, and the finish long and harmonious, carried by a cool mineral backbone from the steep slate soils.
