About This Producer

United States – Paso Robles, California

Tablas Creek crafts Rhône-style wines of great finesse from limestone-rich soils, while leading the world in sustainability as the first Regenerative Organic Certified vineyard.

Tablas Creek was founded in 1989 as a partnership between the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Robert Haas, the longtime importer of Beaucastel wines into the U.S. Together, they established a property in Paso Robles’ Adelaida District to bring Rhône varieties to California, importing cuttings directly from Beaucastel. The estate has become a benchmark for Rhône-style blends in America, rooted in limestone soils and a rugged, high-elevation terroir, and today it is run by Jason Haas.

Tablas Creek is a pioneer in sustainability and regenerative farming. Certified both organic and biodynamic, it became the first vineyard in the world to receive Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC) in 2020. This holistic certification integrates soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness, placing the estate at the forefront of global discussions on resilient agriculture. Their farming emphasizes biodiversity, cover crops, and dry-farming, reinforcing the estate’s role as a model for environmentally conscious viticulture.

The wines themselves display remarkable finesse, balance, and purity, from mineral-driven whites like Esprit de Tablas Blanc to complex, age-worthy reds such as Esprit de Tablas Rouge. They combine Rhône-inspired structure and depth with a distinctly Californian generosity, offering harmony and elegance that reflect both place and philosophy.
