About This Producer

Italy – Piedmont (Barolo, Serralunga d’Alba)

In short: Massolino is a Barolo powerhouse, producing structured, age-worthy Nebbiolos from Serralunga’s great vineyards, along with one of the region's greatest expressions of Barbera d'Alba.

Established in 1896, Massolino is one of the great traditionalists of Barolo, based in the village of Serralunga d’Alba. The family has long championed Nebbiolo’s ability to convey terroir with depth, structure, and longevity.

The estate’s holdings include top crus such as Margheria, Parafada, and the legendary Vigna Rionda. Massolino’s Barolos are noted for their firm tannins, dark fruit, and earthy minerality, with an elegance that emerges over years of aging. The family also produces expressive Dolcetto, Barbera, and Moscato d’Asti, as well as Riesling and Chardonnay.

Serralunga’s calcareous marl soils impart power and backbone, making Massolino’s wines some of the longest-lived in Barolo. The estate stands as a reference point for the region’s traditional style.
