About This Producer
Single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley, shaped by Olive Hamilton Russell’s decades-long, terroir-driven approach to boutique winemaking.
Hamilton Russell Oregon is a boutique producer of site-specific, single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Founded by Olive Hamilton Russell, the project is rooted in a precise, terroir-driven approach that prioritizes clarity of site and thoughtful, small-scale production.
Olive Hamilton Russell brings more than two decades of experience in fine wine, including senior leadership roles at three respected South African estates: Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Ashbourne, and Southern Right. These years shaped her deep understanding of boutique winemaking and terroir expression. Educated in Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Stellenbosch, she also holds both the WSET Diploma and the Cape Wine Academy Diploma, grounding her work in both technical rigor and sensory insight.
Raised on a multigenerational cattle ranch near the Swaziland border in South Africa, Olive’s connection to land and farming is foundational to her philosophy. When the family property was sold after nearly 200 years, she chose to honor that legacy by investing her share into her own wine venture. In addition to her winemaking career, she is the author of the award-winning cookbook Entertaining at Hamilton Russell Vineyards, a frequent international speaker and judge, and a current board member of the Eola-Amity Hills Winegrowers Association.
