In short: Hamilton Russell Oregon brings Burgundian finesse and South African pedigree to Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Hamilton Russell, famed for its South African Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, expanded to Oregon in 2018 with a project in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley. The estate leverages Oregon’s cool climate and diverse soils to craft wines that echo the elegance of Burgundy while retaining a distinct regional identity. Pinot Noir is the flagship, delivering purity of red fruit, spice, and fine tannins, while Chardonnay thrives with fresh acidity, subtle oak, and layered complexity.
The Zena Crown Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from the Zena Crown Vineyard, a monopole site farmed sustainably and Salmon Safe. Its iron-rich soils, varied elevations, and maritime-cooled climate yield a wine of remarkable structure, aromatic intensity, and textural finesse, capturing the vineyard’s elegance with layered fruit, spice, and a long, balanced finish.
Maple Grove Chardonnay comes from the Maple Grove Vineyard near Monmouth in the Willamette Valley AVA. This site imparts a firm mineral backbone and lifted fruit, producing a wine that balances restraint and elegance with textured depth. It reflects both classic European sensibility and the purity of its Pacific Northwest origin, completing the expression of finesse and structure shaped by Oregon’s volcanic and marine sedimentary soils and the cooling Van Duzer Corridor.
