In short: Hambledon is England’s pioneering sparkling wine estate, producing Champagne-quality wines from Hampshire chalk.
Hambledon is England’s oldest commercial vineyard, originally planted in 1952, and has become one of the country’s leaders in traditional-method sparkling wine. Under current ownership, the estate has invested in extensive vineyard expansion and state-of-the-art winemaking facilities to rival Champagne.
The chalky soils of Hampshire mirror those of the Côte des Blancs, making the region ideally suited for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Hambledon’s sparkling wines are celebrated for their purity, crisp acidity, and fine mousse, with a house style that balances freshness and richness.
With England emerging as a serious sparkling wine region, Hambledon stands at the forefront, combining heritage with innovation and consistently earning international acclaim.
