About This Producer

France – Loire Valley (Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine)

In short: Château de la Ragotière crafts mineral, lees-aged Muscadets of depth and precision, including extraordinary single-vineyard expressions.

Château de la Ragotière, a historic estate dating back to the 14th century, is owned by the Couillaud family. For generations, the family has specialized in Melon de Bourgogne from the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation, producing wines that elevate the region’s reputation.

Extended lees aging gives Ragotière’s Muscadets depth and texture, balancing the grape’s crisp citrus and saline character. The wines are renowned for their compatibility with seafood and their ability to age surprisingly well.

Granite- and gneiss-based soils, combined with the Atlantic influence, provide freshness and minerality. The Couillaud family’s stewardship ensures a faithful yet ambitious expression of Muscadet.
