In short: Borgo Scopeto produces quintessential Chianti Classico wines that balance Tuscan rusticity with elegance.
Borgo Scopeto is a restored medieval hamlet situated in Castelnuovo Berardenga, one of Chianti Classico’s most esteemed communes. The estate, once a fortified village, has been transformed into a winery and hospitality center, surrounded by vineyards that embody the essence of Tuscan viticulture.
Sangiovese is the dominant variety here, thriving on the galestro and alberese soils characteristic of the region. Borgo Scopeto’s Chianti Classico and Riserva bottlings deliver red-cherry fruit, firm yet polished tannins, and vibrant acidity, combining rustic Tuscan charm with an elegant frame. The wines reflect the southern character of Berardenga, known for producing deeper, more structured expressions of Sangiovese.
The slightly warmer conditions of Castelnuovo Berardenga yield wines with more body and richness than those from cooler, northern areas of Chianti Classico. This, combined with Borgo Scopeto’s careful winemaking, makes its wines a true representation of both terroir and tradition.
