Viticulture here is both ancient and revived: old bush-trained alberello vines, many over a century old and planted on terraces of black lava stone, now share the landscape with carefully managed modern vineyards. The result is a patchwork of contrade — Etna’s “crus” — each defined by altitude, exposure, and lava flows, similar in nuance to Burgundy’s climats or Piedmont’s crus.
The wines are unmistakable: nervy, vertical, saline, and mineral-driven, with remarkable aging potential. Reds are dominated by Nerello Mascalese (often likened to Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo), lifted by Nerello Cappuccio, while whites showcase the steely Carricante, a grape capable of crystalline precision and depth.

With bottle age, Carricante develops extraordinary complexity, recalling mature Riesling, white Burgundy, and mountain-grown Chenin Blanc while remaining unmistakably Etna in character.
